Ramakkalmedu- Ramakkalmedu – The famous hill station located at a height of 3500 feet above sea level in Idukki district of Kerala state. It provides breathtaking panoramic views of Cumbum, Theni, Kombe, Thevaram, Uthamapalayam, Bodinaykannor and Vaiga of Tamil Nadu State.This unique place located nearby Kerala- Tamil Nadu border, 40 km. from Thekkady. The Wind blows at a speed around 35 km per hour and this place is known as one of the windiest places in South India. A giant 40ft statue named Kuravan and Kurathi (tribals) created by sculptor CB Jinan is the another attraction of the place. The literal meaning of rama- kal- medu is “Land of Rama’s Stone” or “Land where Rama kept his leg” (Rama- the God in Hindu mythology).People believes that Lord Rama kept his feet at the tip of Ramakkalmedu in search his wife Sita.

Ramakkal-is approximately 77 kilometers from Munnar. The nearest Railway station is Kottayam and is just about 140 km. and Kochi (Cochin) international airport190 kilometers away. The famous Kumarakam is just 157 km. and the Alappuzha is about 185km.
